Classic Dirt Bike magazine: is about the bikes and personalities of the sport, covering pre-65 machines, classic and twin shocks, trials as well as scrambling/motocross and enduros. There are reader rebuilds from the UK/Europe and North America, event coverage, personality interviews/profiles, letters, products and so much more.
Gearbox woes • Something entirely unconnected with motorcycles prompted a thought process around parts longevity.
DIRT NEWS • Want to tell us about a forthcoming event, or have any other dirt bike news to share? Email CDBEditor@mortons.co.uk or track down the editor at a dirt bike show or event.
Thoroughbred champion • We like to feature winners in the pages of CDB; sometimes it takes a while after winning for a bike to be featured… here is the Best Scrambler from the CDB show 2019.
Flashback! Montesa Cota MkIII • With a seventh place in the 1970 Knut Trophy Trial, Montesa’s works star Gordon Farley became the first new name on the British trials championship trophy for 11 years.
On top of the world • It is the aim of all competitors – not just in motorcycling – to be crowned ‘world champion’ in their sport. We celebrate three world championship anniversaries.
Stellar Stafford • The International Classic MotorCycle Show is for all types of classics but tends to favour roadsters. There are some proper off-roaders, too, though.
Works inspired • There are works bikes for team members, then there are bikes built at the works using works parts that are effectively works-inspired bikes.
Endless tasks • A shedful of old bikes, be they dirt or road, means there is always a task even when they’ve been dormant for a while.
PRODUCTS • Do you make or supply something for the type of motorcycles and riders we feature in Classic Dirt Bike? Well, this is the place to tell the world about your stuff. Either send it and we’ll photograph it or send a hi-res pic – at least 5mb – of it on a white background and tell us what it is, what it does, how much it costs and where to get it, and we’ll do the rest.
Noble winner • While the Pre’65 Scottish Two Day Trial may not be the oldest pre65 event it has the kudos of using sections ridden in the SSDT from the actual pre-1965 era.
Startline drama • There are, or were, many methods of ensuring competitors in a scramble started at the same time… not all were successful.
Top time at Telford • It’s February which means it’s cold, wet, and dark, so what better way to spend the time than at the Classic Dirt Bike Show at Telford’s International Centre…
DIRT TALK • A letters page is an interesting thing. What will readers write? What do they say? Read it here.

Lucky break • Buying at auction is an interesting experience, so it’s best to go with a figure in mind. Occasionally, when the bidding starts above your limit, then you walk away.
